The effect of equine facilitated program on peer relationships and self-concept of children in elementary school

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to provide Equine Facilitated Program to the Children in Elementary School and identify its effects on their peer relationships and self-concept. For this purpose, Equine Facilitated Program was provided to 18 children in the experimental group who agreed to participate in Equine Facilitated Program five times a week over two weeks, and there were 15 children in the control group who didn``t agree to participate. The collected data were processed by using SPSS 20 t-test, thus obtaining the following results: First, Equine Facilitated Program exerted significant effects on peer relationships among those children in the experimental group. Second, Equine Facilitated Program exerted significant effects on self-concept among those children in the experimental group. To put the results together, Equine Facilitated Program was effective in improving peer relationships and self-concept for the Children in Elementary School.
